Child Yoga - What is All the Fun About?

...oga is a non-competitive activity. Yet it does offer your child the ability to master challenging poses (especially as he gets older). Your child can feel good about his increasing ability without having to worry about how he compares to everyone else. This experience of success can help your child feel more confident in his ability to be successful in other things too.

What is a child yoga program like?
The main focus of a child yoga program is on fun. Often the children will pretend to be the animal for which the pose is named. For instance, when they are doing Cat Pose, they become the cat and may even meow. If you dont take the time to be a Yoga student and engage in learning, continuing education, and nurturing your passion for Yoga, you risk burn out. getting back to the spiritual aspect - It is part of the Yogic package; if you continue to practice Yoga - spiritual health will reveal itself to you in the form of the religion you are most comfortable with. For those who say spiritual health is a bad thing, I am sorry they have tunnel vision. It is a shame, when people cannot live in harmony with other people and the world around them.

Intolerance has caused many wars, holocausts, and witch hunts. The intolerant person needs Yoga more than any of us.

Non-harming is taught as a tenet of yoga. This includes respecting and accepting yourself (including your body) as you are today instead of forcing the body to do things it's not ready for. This also includes training the mind to be aware of destructive self-criticism. Over time, you can safely expand your capabilities and learn to accept and honor yourself without the harsh "no pain, no gain" attitude.
